WINTER 64

WINTER 64

pf solo

A dramatic, 'quasi' serial work, written in Europe, for piano solo. Inspired by a poem of Dylan Thomas, "A Winter's Tale". It is, for personal reasons, intended as a tragic work, which is reflected in the poetry. There is much experimentation here with new ways of approaching the keyboard and possibilities with the performance of tone clusters, pedal effects, and the hand positions required to achieve these sounds. A considerable challenge to any pianist not prepared to learn new performance techniques.
